Respected, to a lesser or greater degree, by a majority of
French speakers. Broadly speaking, there is more interest in
the language and how it is used in France, than I have
noticed in
English-speaking countries. There is a notion of "elegance"
of speech and writing (and cooking and clothing...), which
includes being "correct".

When thinking of the Academie, I always think of the 40
members, not the building. Sorry if I confused you.

Yes, you are right:
"...Academie Française that makes decisions..."
but
"...money-making concern, which teaches French.."
I concede you the comma, no more (-:
