This is now quite long. May contain material offensive
to some people.
==
You've defined me almost to a tee, as well. Except, I
commute on my bicycle while listening to the ABC.
Cycling saves on the time and expense of going to the
gym, not to mention walking the gauntlet of those
smokers to get there, and it saves fuel AND the
planet, no less.
Yes, I pick up my dog's poo and recycle it in my worm
farm or garden, sometimes leaving it as booby traps
for the people who nick my fruit. I use leftover
curtain material for shopping bags (sorry, they're
dark blue) but I still get plastic ones for some
things like meat (ooops, was I supposed to be a vego?!
at least I recycle those ones as my bin liners).
I thought all this simply meant I wanted to be
healthier, live longer, am capable of critical thought
and didn't want to make the world a worse place for
others. And being a little PC with strangers was my
way of trying not to offend *first*. I certainly
didn't realise it robbed me of my SOH.
While I'm not much of a finger waggler, I have often
returned cigarette butts to their rightful owners.
(Ah, the benefits of being on a bike at the traffic
lights.)
I guess the people who still use plastic bags, listen
to commercial radio, watch commercial TV, and smoke
must be those double-barrel named, Liberal-voting
people who are too self-centred to worry about their
effects on others. It's probably a group dominated by
all those females who, rather than working, should be
at home watching days of our lives/the young and the
restless and cooking meals for the better halves.
And if you found anything above offensive, you must be
on the road to buying a green shopping bag. :) But
don't worry, I won't think you're sanctimonious 'cos I
understand that the maunfacturers made it that green
colour and they made the poo bags their colour,
too--which over here in WA, happens to be yellow most
of the time. My sister-in-law refuses to carry them
openly 'cos it tells people she 'handles poo'.
I did find myself enjoying a song the other day, only
to find out it was one of those talentless pop Idol
folk. How could they trick me so?
AMIGH (all meant in good humour).
Ciao,
Terry
