atw: Re: [OT] TEFL teacher looking for examples of good English

I'm pretty sure the student is after a compendium of shortish examples of
good English writing in various styles--not so much books that explain 'how
to writ good' such as grammar text books or style guides.

I can think of a couple of books like this (e.g. Ten Articulate Men) but
they won't be easy to find in Sweden.

Here are a few more ideas--not compendia but sources of good English prose
intended to persuade or explain:

- books of essays by writers on science topics (Stephen Jay Gould, Richard
Dawkins, Paul Davies, Steve Jones, Richard Fortey)
- http://www.edge.org/
- the essays, book reviews and articles on the wonderful Arts & Letters
Daily (http://aldaily.com/)
