Indeed, Elizabeth (F)

Gaslight Music <http://www.gaslight.com.au/> used to be one of my two
favourite haunts for LPs, between 1976 and 1979, in the early days of
my advertising copywriting career, when I worked around the corner
from them @ Clemenger Bryson / Clemenger Harvie Advertising in
Exhibition Street, Melbourne.

Never attended one of Gaslight's (in)famous unclothed shopper days
though.

Visited them again last year after a long absence (hadn't been there
since the late 1980s) and was a bit shocked to see no vinyl there any
more, but it is starting to make a comeback again and I bought my first
new turntable in years, a few months ago (a surprisingly excellent belt
drive Sherwood visual clone of a direct drive Technics, with an Audio
Technica MM cartridge) from Radio Parts in East Malvern.

Another favourite place of mine since the 1970s.

Cheers,

Michael

or you could have just popped into gaslight on bourke st, which is who
chaos was... (don't know who they are now.)

jb is usually pretty cheap, and a good bet if you can't be bothered
shopping around. i sometimes use www.atlanticdvd.com.au for upcoming
dvds if they look well-discounted (pre-orders have free shipping).

if you're into online shopping, www.getonce.com.au does price
comparisons of a lot of Oz/NZ online sellers for books, dvds and cds.

I used to be a big user of Chaos Music until recently, when they made an
absolute mess of their Web site (which used to work so beautifully)
after moving their data operations from Victoria to Queensland and,
simultaneously, changed their pricing structure (how much you spend
before the delivery charges disappear) to make it no longer cost
effective for me to deal with them, when compared with driving a
couple of minutes to JB Hi-Fi <http://www.jbhifi.com.au/> or walking
around to my neighbourhood DSE PowerHouse <http://www.dse.com.au/>.
