atw: Re: Now Very OT: Viruses

If I can't run me down who can :-) Self-replicating code is interesting
though, modern computing principles see us approach it from several angles.
Don't forget, virii are not neccesarily disabling.

Angle 1: There are many professional 4GL's around and I occasionally write
limited ones. Now whilst 4GL's don't begat 3GL's, a 3GL is still executable
code.

Angle 2: Distributed computing, such as used by any of the BOINC clients
(SETI@Home, Protein Folding, Weather analysis...). Again, the fine line line
is merely the host is a website and the progeny a client.

Angle 3: Auto-updating software.

PS: Seen in the wild: Disincentivization as the latest American political
gerund. Un-flipping-believable.

Who is not suggesting that Steve would write a virus. In spite of things
Steve might say about himself, he has some honour.
