I got a call from HCI about the job I am in now, asking if I was
interested in applying for the role. 

When I explained that I had already been told I would start this same
role on Monday, the stupid person on the other end of the line told me I
didn't have the role... 

You know, they had my resume in there for years (and held on to my
contact details after I had requested to be removed more than once); and
the first time I hear from them about a role, it was already mine!

I hung up as quickly as I could. I hate talking to losers ...

My SEEK filter is set up to send me ACT jobs because it brings a faint
smile to my tired lips to see five agencies advertising obviously the
same role.

It occurs to me that there are two possible responses from the rest of
us: 1. Refuse to apply 2. Apply but ask double what Howard is currently
getting (and if accepted, sorry, Howard!)

A third possiblity is that there really is someone out there as
good/experienced as Howard but who would work for half his rate. I leave
that one on the table.
