Yes that is true, and a horrible oversight on Microsoft's part, but
there is a simple way to fix this as you can put any command on the QAT,
including the Style list box as it was in 2003.
Go to Word options, Customize and under Popular Commands, select Style
(not Styles) and add this to the QAT toolbar. This puts the style list
box on the QAT exactly as it was in 2003 and previous.

Subject: atw: Macros in Word 2007

Hi Christine

I've been a 2007 user for almost a week now and am anticipating
that many things will be working better than they did in earlier
versions.

I quite like 2007, and am about to jump into a large proposal -
and am not anticipating any really problems.

I read your article but it didn't really address my issues. I can
understand that you are likely confronted by people who want to
recreate 2003 MS standard toolbars in their 2007 environment -
that's not what I'm doing.

I'm looking at what I need to set up in 2007 for users of my
corporate template solutions, rather than my personal use. It's
more about how it can be easiest for me to support them than about
what effort they should put in to learning their new version of
Word. Spare time for self pace training, or more formal training
isn't on their list of priorities.

The QAT is not something I would dictate to my users what they
should do with that. I might make recommendations to them
though!

The Addins tab does most of what I need, except it needs to be
visible all the time, as I provide an alternative work
environment. It also doesn't let me display the name of the style
that has been applied to the current paragraph.

thanks for the tips!
Suzy
