atw: Re: Macros in Word 2007

If you open (or attach as an add-in) a 2003 template in Office 2007, all
the menus and toolbars are located on the "Addins" ribbon. While this
location is not great for general users, I was happy to have lots of my
old "stuff" there while I learnt about what I would really need on the
Quick Access bar (I found there was lots that I didn't need any more as
the built in commands were on the Ribbon in the right place).

Quick Access is definitely the place to start, and eventually you need
to learn how to create your own ribbons (not for the faint hearted!).

Before you let 2003 disappear, clean up your toolbars - if they are too
long you have to scroll sideways on the Addins ribbon. Group like items
into sub-menus on the toolbar and your transition will be smoother.

Cheers,

Margaret

We are rapidly approaching our move to Office 2007 in my workplace and
I'm starting to think about how my own set-up is going to transfer to
the new environment.

 ...

The obvious place to start would seem to be the Quick Access Toolbar,
but does it allow you to group commands into folders?

Has anyone else played with this kind of problem?

Howard
