Hmm, if that's 'one of your nastier solutions', then you need serious
practice in being nasty, if not an intensive course. No, I don't really
mean nasty - just pushing back when people push you around. (I envisage
you rushing into work for an 8am meeting, then shaking your fist in the
air in helpless rage because (surprise) no-one's there but you!)
Meanwhile you sucked me in too. I even got out my book about programming
Outlook and started looking for a solution there!
But, like others, I don't really think that's the way to go ...

woohoo! thank you for that, that helps a lot.
the non-attendance issue is indeed a broader issue. one of my slightly
nastier solutions was to say that i would be happy to re-cover the meeting
for those who missed it, but that given how busy people are during the
day, it would have to be at 8am, as there would be less chance of having
to reschedule.
