I realise it's very hard to describe these things...
>The client has now asked for a small graphic to be placed at the start of
each procedure (1.5cm H by 2cm W). So I plonk the thing in (Insert by Link)
to the left of the first step in the procedure and set its layout (or
run-around properties) to SQUARE with a horizontal alignment of LEFT. It
snaps into place, BUT.each step to the immediate right of the graphic now
has a much larger hanging indent (about 2cm). All the steps below the
graphic retain the correct hanging indent as per the style specification
(0.63cm).
So steps to the _immediate right_ of the graphic have a 2cm hanging indent,
and
steps _below_ the graphic retain the correct hanging indent.
There can't be too many steps to the right of it because it's only 1.5cm
high, but it seems to me that what you've got is this (and you'll need a
fixed-width font to get my meaning):
GGGGG 1. Step 1 step 1 step 1 step 1
GGGGG step 1 step 1 step 1.
GGGGG
GGGGG 2. Step 2 step 2 step 2 step 2
GGGGG step 2 step 2 step 2.
3. Step 3 step 3 step 3 step 3 step 3 step 3
step 3 step 3 step 3.
(Where G represents the graphic.)
If I've got it right, this is correct behaviour! Well, almost, because the
hanging indent to the right of the graphic is 2.63cm (why on earth use those
queer figures? -- client insistence, I suppose). So have I got it right? If
I have, the solution is to ensure somehow that you only get one step to the
right of the graphic, or otherwise redesign the layout. If I haven't, it's
back to the drawing board.
