Nothing is ticked. The settings (no formatting etc) are exactly the =
same
between the 'find' and 'find and replace' tabs. I really can't see =
anything
that would cause the wide variety in approaches. I'm starting to =
suspect it
aint my fault at all. Grrr.

If style and case are not important, make sure you are
viewing all options by clicking on the More button
(becomes 'Less' when the options are displayed) and
click on the No Formatting button. Also make sure none
of the other search options are ticked unless they are
what you want.
