self-contained program or does it use a web browser to display information?
It opens in a browser. When I write anything now I assume Windows Vista, so
yes there is some rather clunky but quite powerful magnification
functionality available. I work in Firefox myself, and have a range of
other browsers that I test everything in, but I will add that to my list of
"does it work" questions (see reply to Hedley on this one).
You are all getting hung up on accessibility, but I am not sure it is my
responsibility as the producer of a commercial product.
I am not writing materials for a workplace environment where I have to cater
for everyone likely to be employed in that environment. I am producing a
commercial product to be sold commercially to a defined audience. I have to
make a commercial decision based on how much additional expense I will incur
to cater for a specified niche market. The functionally blind are a small
specialist market place that I am not specifically catering for. Bicycle
makers don't have to enable paraplegics on bicycles. Specialists design
vehicles for paraplegics. In the same way, I am developing mass market
products, not niche products.
It is taking me a while to get my head around the difference in perspective
between contracting into corporate/industry, and becoming a producer of
commercial product. It's quite a different mindset - and you guys are
helping me to see just how different it is.
Christine
