Hi Kathy,
Warren's reply is spot on. WebHelp is set as a frameset that defines
opening main page in the right frame. The reason the URL in your browser
doesn't change is that it opens the topics into that frame so the
frameset (URL you opened) is still the one the browser is displaying.
In my previous workplace we tried to get eHelp to assist us in doing
what you want to do (we wanted that to deal with opening context
sensitive help pages rather than email links).
eHelp wasn't very helpful so we altered the code in ehlpdhtm.js ourself
(this is the JavaScript file that is used by the WebHelp pages - or at
least it was in X4.1). This wasn't a simple task as the JavaScript in
that file is already coded to deal with various situations on loading a
page. It is also always split into two and added to your output based on
the original file located in your RoboHelp installation folder (so
whenever you upgrade RoboHelp you need to re-implement these changes in
their upgraded javascript file).
If you can't get hold of a JavaScript expert to do this for you,
Warren's suggestion of a workaround (placing a button\link in every
topic, that will take them to the main page frameset) is easier to
implement and maintain.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Alon
