Do you mean the "revocation" piece isn't funny but would be funny if we
knew Cleese to be the author? Or do you mean that if Cleese had written
it he would have written something different? ;-)

Cleese is quoted widely (this could be another misattribution) as saying
on US TV, during the Clinton era, that there were three differences
between the English and the Americans:

1. We speak English and you don't.

2. When we hold a World Championship for a particular sport, we invite
teams from other countries.

3. When you meet the head of state in England, you only have to go
down on one knee.
