atw: Re: Job Opportunity in Sydney

Steve, would you rather not have the job posted at all?=20

The guy called me first, because I'd published something relating to the sk=
ills they are seeking that he found on a Google search, and I suggested tha=
t he post to Austechwriters.

I don't know the details other than it seems to be in the area of defence t=
echnical documentation. However, to find me, the agent was obviously doing =
a thorough recruiting job for the employer. Also, given that I have been wo=
rking for the one company for nearly 14 years, there are worse places than =
Defence companies for a techwriting job.

This is his first job post to a techwriters list, and he was concerned that=
he understood that some were quite negative about "advertising". Given tha=
t there seem to be more techwriters than jobs in the present market, I thou=
ght that job posts were always welcome.\

On the other hand, Steve's post suggests that it might be appropriate for u=
s to establish some guidelines for the kind of information that should be i=
ncluded in a job post. The web page for the Austechwriters WIKI would give =
us not only a place to post useful macros and templates, but a public face =
to describe what we do, and some suggestions to potential employers as to w=
hat we would ideally like to know in a job advert.

I _really_ love job ads with _dollar_ figures included hey. Something about
transparent processes. Still, it is potentially not quite as annoying as
"pay commensurate with experience"

<Whispers> Waz? This aint your job is it?
