In mathematics zero and null is the same, just that 'null' has taken on
a different meaning from what it has in the languages the English stole
it from (German). Zero, according to Collins ED, is from the Arabic
sifr which means empty. Six of one half a dozen of the other?

Not if you follow the Arabic model, and say zero is a
value. Most of us have been following the Arabian
mathematicians on this for a few centuries. :-)
And from the another point of view, it's important to
understand that null is not necessarily numeric, as zero is.
For example, the null string is a commonly-used concept,
being a string of no length, sometimes confusingly referred
to as "", or ''.
Anyone want to opt for non-"" ?
