atw: Re: Is "non-null" an acceptable term?

Just to chime in with my $0.02.

"Null" is different to "zero" or "blank".

Null means "no value". Zero is a value - ie it could be your bank balance.
"Blank" is a value, ie it could be your Address 2.

Null means nothing. No value. It is the contents of field before it
has been initialised. But it is not the only case where a field could
be null. It means this field has no information.
