Stuart, that has mostly been my experience too as a contractor, and I see
my role as someone who can and does fix problems.
I am by nature cynical (goal for this year is to be less so; everyone take
a ticket and beat me mercilessly when my cynicism re-appears).
What I in fact have done here is create a system where clerical staff can
do what was taking half my time. Problem now is that no-one wants to pay
for my services to take over work they don't have time to do properly, but
if done properly would dramatically improve quality, and their overall
performance. Too dumb to see it.
Ultimately the decision to let me go was based simply on bonus, this year.
Not based on making the business better. That is why we should be there
for a business. When you are, boy you are reminded about how useful our
services are to a company.
Anyway, I have to go, as I finish tomorrow.
Bye for now everyone.
