Hi all,
Even if Deborah doesn't find this fix useful, here's how I do it for
those interested.
HTHs
Cheers
1. Open your PDF.
2. Click Advanced -> Javascript -> Document Javascripts.
3. In the Script Name field type a name for your script.
4. Click Edit.
5. Add the following line between the {}.
app.alert("Printing this document will result in blank pages
being present. All is as it should be.", 1);
The number represents which icon appears in the message box. 1 is the
warning exclamation in a yellow triangle, 2 for a question mark, 3 for
an information symbol and no number for a critical error symbol.
6. After the final } and on a new line add the line functionname()
where functionname is the name you added in setup 3.
7. Click OK.
8. Click Close and your message will appear to show you what you're
getting.
9. Close and reopen the document.

Hi Debra,
If you don't get a solution using hidden text, maybe a piece of
Javascript to display a message box when the PDF is opened would do the
job.

I just have an explanation on the front page about printing the document
because it is designed to be printed double sided like a book. If I
don't put that explanation in we get a stack of complaints about the
'missing' blank pages in the document. I could put "this page left
intentionally blank" but that still doesn't get people to print it out
the correct way. I figure the explanation only needs to appear on
screen, not in the print out.
I can put some instructions with a link to the PDF, but this doesn't
cater for people who search and just get the PDF, completely bypassing
the instructions.

Deborah, can you tell us what you want to use this for? Acrobat has some
very basic annotation tools and you can control what gets printed, but
it's hard to know whether these would suit your purpose. Could you just
create separate versions for printing and viewing, as is the case with
some web pages?
Cheers
