atw: Re: Help with a WORD Macro - Please

Hi Helen,

I don't know how to do a macro to change the picture type but perhaps
this could help.

* In the Picture toolbar (View/Toolbars/Picture) click the Compress icon
(it's to the left of the textwrapping icon which is a dog).

* Ensure All Pictures in Document is checked

* Ensure that the Compress pictures option is chosen - you may also want
to choose the Crop option

* Click OK

If you really want to compress the pictures you can choose the Web
option but this will significantly reduce the resolution.

Regards,

Petra

Subject: atw: Help with a WORD Macro - Please

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone help me please?

I am trying to reduce the size of a Word document that has lots of
screen captures (User Ref and Training Manuals). It makes sense to
change the format of the pictures to Picture (Windows Metafile) as this
does make a significant difference to the file size. I have recorded a
macro that copies a screen capture and uses Paste Special to paste it as
a Picture (Windows Metafile) back on top of itself. The macro records OK
but does not actually recognise the difference between pasting as a
metafile or a bitmap. The generated macro code is the same. The Word
file size is not. The code is as follows:

Selection.Copy

    Selection.PasteAndFormat (wdPasteDefault)

Can anyone suggest how I can change the macro, as I have many of these
screen captures in 20+ manuals to deal with. I cannot see how we can get
the formatting completed in the time we have left, if we do them one at
a time.

I am grateful for any suggestions

Thanks and regards
