atw: Re: Hello everyone! Word template bloat problem

If you've checked the "track changes" and "track formatting" issues, my next bet would be on any graphics. Maybe they're compressed in one file, but not the other, or as Stuart alludes, linked/pasted. Then I'd be looking at whether any tables are auto-formatted.

Also, is there manual formatting of styles and paragraphs. Select all and do a Ctrl Spacebar to remove manual font formatting and Ctrl Q to remove manual paragraph formatting.

Hey Stuart, give me my head back.

Cheers,
Terry

Hi Warren -

Try saving them all as RTF. See if the bloated .DOT also produces a bloated RTF. Compare them and see if you can tell where the difference is.

I'm not sure if these are applicable to templates, but the usual things to check/try for .DOC files are:
- Disable 'Allow fast saves'
- If revision tracking was enabled, accept all changes
- Create a new template, copy everything from the bloated doc up to but not including the last para marker into it, save - if there are any graphics, was there any difference in how they were inserted

That's all from off the top of my admittedly wrinkled, thinning head--good luck.

Stuart
