atw: Re: Hardman's Law

No worries. I realized when the posts of your contemporaries appeared that I had mistaken your intent. But welcome all the same and thanks for the introduction to "Hardman's Law", which, despite the interesting possible implications inherent in such an interesting surname, certainly has enormous potential to become the contemporary version of Murphy's Law. :)

Hi Mary,
Thanks for your kind welcome, but I should reveal that I am not actually a newcomer, I have just changed the email account I use.

In mailing to the list I found that my posts were being interpreted as list commands, as well as being posted correctly, a minor glitch somewhere. Since my emailing system is a peculiar mix of UNIX mail handler and personal scripts, when something goes wrong I always suspect it is a problem at my end. In this case, Jean and Michael (both contemporaries of mine) have reported the same odd behaviour, so I am assuming that my system is ok.

Of course, Hardman's law applies here: If the software works, it just means that there is an even number of mistakes in it.
