Apart from 'thumbs' being plural and your verb and pronoun singular,
I think we need to be careful in translating from one domain to another.

The word 'limited' is one of those words that has a specific meaning in
biology that is rather different from the usual 'street' sense.

Whenever something is 'specialised' in biological terms, it is 'limited' in
its application to the range of tasks we need to perform to survive. For
instance, the human brain as a whole is relatively unspecialised, but
parts of it are highly specialised, ie, limited; eg, the visual cortex
cannot
handle information from the cochlear nerve bundle; try walking on your
hands all day; try tearing meat with your ears. These are all examples of
what biologists mean by 'limited'.
