OK, here's how I believe it works:
IF your message contains high ASCII characters (em- and en-dashes, ellipses,
curly quotes, etc.) and IF you use Lotus Notes and IF you post it to
austechwriter...
it will come out garbled.
The first message I sent this morning had some text copied from a web page,
and came back garbled. I realised it contained some en dashes and fixed
them, but missed a couple of curly quotes. That was the second garbled
message. I fixed the curly quotes and sent it again, and that was third time
lucky.
