Jasmine, Overseas call centres are not exempt, in fact. See the following extract from the Do Not Call website: The Australian Communications and Media Authority (the ACMA) is responsible for the register under the Do Not Call Register Act 2006. The Act covers telemarketing calls and marketing faxes from within Australia and overseas. The overseas call centres are usually representing Australian companies in any case, so the Australian company can be prosecuted by the ACMA for repeat offences. Regards, John. So are charities and market research firms). Good if you're a business. Personally, I already get too much junk mail (and calls, despite being on the 'do not call' register - though they invariably do backpedal quickly when I raise that).
