atw: Re: Following the ASTC(NSW) members and friends meeting ....

Christine,

As I understand it, the next version of Microsoft Windows/OS is codenamed
Longhorn. The next version of the Microsoft help format is being codenamed
Longhorn Help. I've also seen Help.Longhorn. From what I understand, this
format will replace the now shelved Microsoft HTML Help 2.0.

I've read info on Char James-Tanny's website (www.helpstuff.com) about
Longhorn Help. Char is a Microsoft Help MVP, among many other things, and
will be speaking at AODC and STC's Baltimore conference on Longhorn Help.
I'm pretty sure she also had a session on it at WritersUA.

The MS Help wiki is: www.mshelpwiki.com/index.php?page=MSHelpWiki
The wiki is maintained/monitored/assisted by all the Microsoft Help MVPs.
Either this site or searching Microsoft should give you the latest,
officially released information on Longhorn Help.

Hope this helps you find some more info,
KT

As this seems to be a Microsoft driven change, do we have any idea what
design changes 'Microsoft's new Help solution' will entail? Does it
have a name so that we can look it up on Microsoft's web site?
