Hi Geoffrey,
There's a checkbox within Tools > Options > Compatibility that says
"Don't add extra space for raised/lowered characters" (on mine, it's
near the bottom of the first page) that will probably ignore the
setting you apply. ;-)

Hi austechies,
Is there some way to force MS Word to rigorously apply, or even up, the line
spacing in the paragraph where some text is subscripted? (There's a *Fixed*
option in FrameMaker that lets you do this.) It seems that MS Word
determines line spacing as the distance between the lowest characters on
adjacent lines rather than the distance from one baseline to the next. And
thus ugly uneven line spacing is introduced in a paragraph where you have a
subscript (such as in a chemical formula): the line below the line with the
subscripted characters is further form the baseline than the other lines in
the paragraph. Ugly indeed. Solution?
Cheers
