Craig,

I spent a couple of minutes wracking my brain trying to remember the 
trick to this one.  You're in luck, I remembered!  Hope it works for you.

What you need to do is provide a heading for the numbers column, but 
NOT the years column.  ie, cell a1 is blank, a2 has the heading 
'numbers', b1 has '2002', b2 has '4'.... etc.  As long as you have this 
formatting, Excel will read it correctly first go.
