Is there such a thing as high job security job these days?
I suspect the gap between having a 'high-job-security' job
and having no job could be as little as two weeks.

You need to be careful when trading off something concrete
($X less per week) for something intangible (fairly secure).
As a thought experiment, imagine trying to pin down what
the extra job security involves:

- job is guaranteed for 3 years/1 year/less?
- employer guarantees 6 months notice of termination/2 months/less?

If the employer can't make any guarantees like these (and they
probably can't), then you're trading off real money for someone's
personal assurance of a firm intention.
