Well, I'd day you've made a good start.
The next thing is you should get your resume to as many agents as
possible, watch sites like Seek and CareerOne (get auto email
notifications) and possibly contact any companies you know to have large
writing departments.
Yes, there generally are lots of unadvertised jobs. The companies and
agencies don't want to 'waste' a couple of hundred bucks finding the
best person, if there is an adequate one on their books. Become the best
one on their books and it shouldn't take long.
Good luck,
Terry

Melbourne
Hello Everyone
I have been a technical writer for 20 years. In that time I have had
two jobs. Now I am looking for job number 3. I am not very practiced
in the art of job hunting and am looking for advice.
Specifically, are there a lot of unadvertised technical writer
positions? How do you get to hear about them?
Thanks
Elizabeth
