atw: Re: DocBook

I might be wrong, but I thought that DocBook had more or less been
superseded. I had a bit of a go at writing XML docco using Word 2003, and I
had to organise everything using stylesheets and schemas.

I think XMLSpy (Altova) is based around DocBook - you can get a demo version
off the web, that might give you some ideas. I had a go at a demo version of
XMLSpy a couple of years ago, and wasn't hugely impressed. As I recall, you
needed to have several windows open at any one time - so you were editing in
one, fiddling with the markups in another etc etc. Word was really easy to
do markups in, but I found the stylesheet/schema thing well beyond my
capabilities.

I hope this help!

Cheers, Andrea

We are looking at converting some of our manuals and help to DocBook. I
have done quite a bit of web searching, looking for information and
applications, but thought that I should also call on your experience.

Does anyone use DocBook to write their documentation? What do you use it
for? How have you found it to use? How did you find out how to write to the
DocBook DTD? Which editor do you use to write your documentation?

Thanks for your comments.
