Hi Bridget,
When you wish to eliminate behaviour in another person, the best way is to 
ignore. 
By calling attention to that person's behaviour, you are providing a social 
reward 
for just the behaviour he wishes to repeat.
Refer to operant conditioning in almost any text on psychology.
