Your original message said something about paper size, with dimensions that 
certainly don't match A4 -- they looked like "Letter", from memory. They must 
be coming from the printer setup somewhere! What do you see if you select 
AdobePDF from the Printers and Faxes list (Start button), and look at 
Properties?

Another point, though: you're well advised to have AdobePDF set as default 
printer before you even launch Word. You can't do much to stop Word from 
throwing its weight around, but forcing it to use the same printer settings 
throughout does make a difference.
