Anna:
I might be your solution.

I am seeking a Technical Writer / Instructional
Designer for a financial services firm in
Melbourne?s CBD. This is a 6-month contract
with possible extension and rate to be determined.
I have worked as a Technical Writer since 1990
and have worked for six years at MYOB Australia
Pty Ltd, and most recently for 9 months in the Training Department at MYOB>
The role will involve working closely with the
Training and Development Team and deliverables will include:
· provide accurate, usable system documentation solutions
I developed a business requirements, test
materials, and test protocols for a plug-in to
FrameMaker and carried out all testing and deployment.
· consult with business analysts and
business subject matter experts regarding system and user requirements
I am quite familiar with these documents from the
Developer Team, Design and Specification Team,
and QA Testing Team in MYOB's product development department.
· develop a user reference guide for a
new Sales and Administration system.
I have developed many user procedural guides over
my career for all kinds of software, electrical
and building construction projects.
You should have strong system documentation
skills and be comfortable in the use of Framemaker among other tools.
I am a power user with FrameMaker, well-known on
the various FrameMaker lists for offering
solutions to people's problems, have developed
simple scripts in FrameScript (and commissioned
an external plug-in -- see above), and have
introduced the many documentation teams with
which I have worked to various productivity
plugins to improve efficiency. I have developed
a set of templates for MYOB which have been in
use and stable for six years, and earlier
implemented FrameMaker templates to match the
corporate publication format and style guide of
HP for their telecommunications testing division
in East Burwood, and a more modest template for Ericsson Australia.
The company is relatively new in the industry
and growing due to the success of its products
and its culture which is very much team-oriented
and supportive - the softer skills required of their employees include:
· be an energetic and dynamic individual
· be able to communicate on all levels
· be very personable and get on well with everyone
· be a self starter
· be analytical and have excellent problem solving skills
· make well considered decisions
· be able to work on a number of tasks at the same time
· work well under pressure
· work well in a team environment
· be able to work long hours when required.
Once established in this role, there will be the
opportunity to work from home part-time.
I built my own computer, featuring 2 Gb memory,
and a 2.0 GHz processer, and have FrameMaker and
various other tools. I am connected to the internet via broadband.
Ideally you will be available by the end of September.
No problem.
Regards,
Hedley
