That is my point. Once you get past a certain level of knowledge/experience,
the differences become more subtle so it becomes hard to justify a current
rate of, say $60 p/h, when your supposed peers are accepting $33 (I'm
full-time BTW so I am arguing from a current point of principle).

The thread was started by Debbie because the ad request senior skills but
only offered $33 p/h.

The analogies didn't fit to me, but I understand what you are trying to say.

Sure, but if people with senior skills are working for $33 p/h and if
recruiters do not know the difference between the different 'senior' skill
sets, then we are all lumped together into broad salary groups. Until we go
through an accreditation process (based on skills/knowledge) this will
always be the case.

Because Bill Gates already has the job (sorry, I couldn't resist :)).
Anyway, history has shown that people will accept any rate from $20 p/h
upwards regardless of what you or I say. If they need it to eat then good
luck to them. I just wish they would look longer term and hold off a bit.
Anyway, that's my final whinge on the matter (for this round anyway:))
'ave a good'n folks.
Cheers.
