Are you sure they weren't just saying "you seem to be a balanced sort
of person and that's not what we're after". Several years ago I was
getting sick of being required to work 70 hours a week as an employee
with no bonus or the like.
I applied for a job elsewhere, and the recruiters said they thought I
wouldn't be able to meet their hours demands. I certainly didn't want
to work anywhere where they expected more than 70 hours a week!! A
couple of months later, the company went broke. [I assumed they had
based their decision on the fact that I owned a shop (managed by an
employee) and thought the shop would distract me too much, but they
didn't ask me.]
