Hi.
Not always. For the layman it's generally just major and minor version ie
windows XP SP2. For the more technically oriented then a build number can come
into play. Back in my MCT days we had to setup classrooms using specific
builds of released software. For example build 2082 of Windows XP SP1. We were
told by a number of software vendors that very minor fixes and enhancements are
made during the life of a product and incorporated into the production line.
These are generally not seen by the end user but can pop-up from time to time.
The build indicates the version between a major.minor releases. SPs are
sometimes the result of packaging a number of builds.
HTHs
Cheers
Shane
