atw: Re: Build vs Release

We do a 'build' twice a day. These builds are used for both manual testing
in the test lab or automatic testing. When testing is complete and the
product is ready to be distributed, the latest build will then become the
release version, e.g. build 1.3.0.3-2456 will be distributed as MineStar
Release 1.3.

If you look in the About information for most products there will be a build
number.

Good day to all you wonderful wordsmiths!

Time to test your knowledge...

Build and Release are two terms that are used very loosely in our company.
I wonder if I could poll you for your thoughts on the difference between
these two
from a technical perspective or are they simply referring to the same thing?

Thanks,
Nikki
