I don't much like the term but it makes some sense when viewed from the
perspective from the paying client--the ads pay the bills and the content
is something your pour into the white spaces in between to get readers to
look at/click on the ads.

Hey--if you're going to discourage narrow-mided and elitist message, where
would our beloved list get 90% of its content?
