atw: Re: Another "rates" query

Hmmmm... the wiki did get going, but has been deactivated because it had =
not been posted upon for one month (I guess that job-changing thing took =
up more of my time than I had suspected - is it a month already?). I =
went to reactivate it, but they want a $20 reactivation fee, so I guess =
that's not going to happen!

There was not much on it - just me trying to get the formatting less =
than completely ugly. If anyone knows of a better free wiki than =
www.seedwiki.com, let me know!

Oh, and btw, in between jobs, I temp. DTP work, which I did for a long =
time before going to Uni and ending up a tech writer. $18-$22/hr, which =
is not great, but my agency would get me work almost immediately, which =
i figure is better than waiting for longer not being paid, hoping to get =
paid a bit more. I would expect the rate to go up to around $25. Also, =
occasionally, some analysis work for some people I worked with while at =
uni - that's a bit better at around $30, but that's a private =
arrangement, rather than throwing myself onto the market.

Not a bad idea Christine. It might also be a good addition to the ASTC
(both) webpages. For example:
Between Contracts

- Roles to keep your hand in
  + Paid work
  + Unpaid work
- Roles to keep eating
+ 'Quick and dirty' roles (instantly available roles above (say) $20
per hour
  + Good agencies/contacts
- Updating your skillset
- Networking
- etc

I'm sure everyone can add to this simple list.

Regards,

Bruce Ashley
