Send a copy of the file to me Steven, I'll try and open it in my later
version of Corel Draw if you like (I have version 11).
My understanding is that AutoCAD has never been keen on revealing their
little secrets to anyone (much worse than Microsoft) and hence, it is very
hard to import CAD drawings into other software packages like Corel draw.
Let alone the 3D perspective drawings.
Better to print/export what you want from a CAD file (by turning off the
layers) rather than edit a .dwg drawing in Corel.
In my extensive experience you are better to start from scratch. (would you
like me to do the drawings for you if you are unsure of Corel?)
Warren.

Subject: atw: (Almost OT) CorelDRAW
Attempting to do my own illustrations (not through choice).
I'm a (very) basic CorelDRAW user, trying to find the best way to import
AutoCAD models (originally 3-D). I'm not having much luck.
I'm not sure if there is a problem with the output from our Drafter/CAD
technician, or if I'm at fault.
I've tried a variety of formats (.dxf, .dwg, .wmf) but generally end up with
garbage. The results require too much touching up (in fact I may as well
draw them from scratch). I've had a quick search for CorelDRAW type user
groups but have had no luck.
Could someone please point me to a relevant discussion group, or provide
some advice (besides changing software platforms)?
Thanks in advance
Steve Gould
