Well, you're not alone in thinking that way, but business ethics is often
defined
by what you can get away with. (See HIH, James Hardie, OneTel, and
countless other examples.)
Still, I'm on your side. When my company acts as a contracting agency, the
standard "surcharge" is 10% if the contractor is thoroughly professional and
proficient requiring no supervision from me. In other words, 10% covers admin
and a profit margin; I have low overheads. If I have to be more closely
involved,
I'll go over 10%. But I won't act for a contractor who doesn't have a
registered
business and a workers' compensation policy -- the admin and other costs
would go up very quickly in such a case.
