atw: Re: Agencies, contractors and other gripes (another longish contribution)

We have an accreditation scheme for hairdressers, and a bad haircut lasts six weeks. What is wrong with this picture?

Much of what has been said in the last few days is perfectly valid discussion that we've had many times, and we should keep on having it.

My position is simple and, I think, well known. A simple, basic accreditation plan will work, and I will be happy to help establish one. I am tired of hearing the same old lines from nay-sayers, many of whom haven't seriously considered the options or the possibilities. As many have said, we need to listen to positive people with constructive things to say.

I have one point in common with the nay-sayers: a large, complex accreditation system will bog down, then fall down.

And yes, we need to advertise to employers. Telling ourselves how clever we are will never get us anywhere. There are many ways to do this advertising job, and I think that the sooner we get on with it the better.

Once we start, we'll have something we can refine, develop and improve on. Right now we have nothing.
