Oh, Adobe...
In 2008, I upgraded to CS3 (or something) Creative Suite Professional,
you know with Photoshop, dreamweaver, flash and stuff. I wouldn't have
minded the price so much had the blasted bugs that have been present in
DreamWeaver and Flash for some years HAD DAMN WELL BEEN FIXED... Note
too the time you have to spend on the VOIP phone support in Chinglish
("sorry, I don't understand - could you repeat that?") getting the code
for the software during the upgrade load and also required every time
you load the software will take anything up to an hour!
Although I have to say that Adobe Bridge is the most excellent piece of
software.
Whats worse of course, is that all my mates who are working in the web
design and animation business, (also read 'competitors') are using hack
versions purchased butt cheaply from various sites. Oh, and they have
full functionality, and no need to phone support to turn the software
on.
Last time I had to ring Adobe I told them that and I was going to
consider seriously doing the same next time. Didn't bat an eyelid... In
other words, they don't care. So Adobe lurkers, what are you going to do
about that???
Regards,
Warren

Hi,
Upgrading to the Suite (1.3) seemed reasonable value to be able to get
RoboHelp 7 and have good integration with FM. But at over one thousand,
nine hundred dollars just for an upgrade to TCS2, I don't feel the same
now.
What annoys me is that upgrading from TCS 1.3 costs the same as
upgrading from FMv5 (or RH or even Captivate), and I don't need
Photoshop.
There's a lot I like about FM9, but as RH7 does not work with FM 9 files
it's hard to justify.
Hope Hedley is correct about the discounts.

I guess the idea is to make the upgrade price for the suite (about $1900
I think) look good by comparison:
$900 => extra features in Frame 9 over Frame 8
versus
$1900 => extra features in Frame 9 over Frame 8 plus four full TC
products
The suite is pretty good value *if* you expect to use all or most of the
products. If I suddenly needed Captivate or RoboHelp for a new contract,
it might make sense, but otherwise...
