Hi all,
I have been an interested spectator of all the recent discussion re
accreditation. Basically I am sceptical, but I wouldn't want to pour cold
water on the efforts of others if that's what they want to do.
However I do have a practical contribution in relation to the issues raised
by Elizabeth and Ana. A few years back I set up a tech writer rates database
at http://www.textology.com.au/resources/rates/
It is a blind study, so, short of sabotage, the data is reliable. You can
query by state, contract or perm etc.
Unfortunately I haven't been as energetic as I might regarding its
promotion. So I'm taking this opportunity to tell/remind you that it's
there. In fact I've only looked at it just now for the first time in ages.
It makes interesting reading.
I note that many entries omit data re Skills. This is a pity because it's
not possible to make any educated guesses as to the discrepancies between
rates and experience which appear.
Anyway - please populate - do yuhselves a fava!
Rgds,
Tony.
