ONLY ok to use them in a creative writing situation where dialogue is
involved. This is because people do talk that way.

It is not acceptable for formal or technical writing.

Subject: atw: AND, BUT, or OR as the first word of a sentence

Dear all=20

This has been covered here before. And so, apologies...

Conventional wisdom was that=20
thou must not begin a sentence with _and_, _or_, and _but_.=20

I need some guidance and also some authoritative references for =20
whether and when it's OK now to use them as the first word of=20
a sentence in a:

1) technical document
2) casual communication=20
3) formal non-technical writing =20

Thanks...
