Frankly, I think it's a good thing. Doing a unit like that will give
them a much better appreciation of what tech writers do, especially if
they don't want to do it themselves, which can only be good in the long
run.

What did you mean here--cash? cachet? cache memory?
LaTex is free and fairly common in academic circles--isn't that
likely the reason why it's being used in a Uni course?
Come on guys, let's not be too precious. If a TW course offered
a unit on software engineering or the scientific method, would that
be an insult to programmers and scientists?
As Peter says, it's nice that someone in a CS/software engineering
department understands that TW is worth devoting a unit to.
