atw: Out damned watermark!

Hi All,

Thanks for all the suggestions with the watermark problem.  The
watermark was created using the option Format>Background>Printed
Watermark in Word 2003.  It is viewable in Print View and Preview, not
in Normal.  Using the same option to remove the watermark leaves the
watermark behind on the first page for one particular client.  I can't
create the problem on my machine, but any document she sends me does
have this problem.

Cutting and pasting all but the last character into a new document
works.  Deselecting different first page only works temporarily.  As
soon as we select the option again the watermark comes back.

After some fiddling around I found the ideal solution.  It seems that
Word is saving the first page watermark as a piece of Word Art.  If I
select the Header and Footer on the first page I can then put my mouse
over the watermark and select it and delete it.
