Guys
I am still looking for writers for these books on royalty. I have had a lot
of people interested, and then they get a "real job". So please note that
this is really only for people who are not interested in the megabucks they
can earn in the current buoyant market, for whatever reason. If that's you,
read on.

Subject: atw: Office 2007 books for royalties (long)
Hi Guys
In Australia we have a curriculum that is followed by all the technical
colleges and RTOs. Private providers, including the publisher I am working
for, supply materials to teachers of these courses. The curriculum for the
business services area has been updated in 2007 and will be adopted in 2008.
In addition, we have the Office 2007 upgrade, which will be adopted by the
TAFEs in 2008 or 2009. So we are developing an entirely new suite of
Office 2007 materials for the new 2007 curriculum.
I have won the contract to develop these books which are the Software
Publications "best sellers", and I need some professional writers to help
me.
THE CONSTRAINTS
. We write the training materials to map exactly to the curriculum,
so effectively the courses are designed by someone else, and often badly.
. I have developed a prototype for BSBITU201A Produce Simple Word
Processed Documents. All remaining courses will be written to these
standards. They may not suit everyone, so it is important that you like the
approach and feel able to work enthusiastically to the standards in place.
The tone is chatty and informal.
THE MONEY
These books will be developed on a royalty basis. In the normal way
royalties are little more than pocket money, but these are the Office 2007
books. All other things being equal, all these books should at least pay
for the time taken to develop them, and some will pay much more. However,
that payment is over the 5-10 year life expectancy of the books.
WHO
So this opportunity would suit someone who is working part time, or
semi-retired, or taking time out from corporate politics, who wants some
nice earnings trickling in over the next 5-10 years. You would be someone
who:
. has written educational materials
. knows what it feels like to write and edit 250 page documents
. is inventive and creative in your approach to training
. is totally educated and disciplined (or is willing to be) in the
way you use templates and styles
. is prepared to upgrade to Office 2007 (you will enjoy it -
really!) Vista is NOT necessary!
. can develop the materials in Word 2007 on a system that can handle
large files
. can commit to writing at one book before TAFE returns in Feb 2008
. can commit to updating any books produced for Microsoft Office
upgrades, until the next major upgrade (eg, 98-2003 were effectively one
product and so were up-gradable, 2007 is a new product and requires new
materials)
We need courses for most of the products in the Office suite, including
Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher, and also basic computer management
using Windows XP and Vista, and some web stuff. Note that these are low
level courses so you do not need to be an expert in 2007 before you start
writing them, but you do have to understand realistic output from each of
these products in order to design projects.
If you think you may be interested please get in touch off-list, and I will
post you a review copy of BSBITU201A Produce Simple Word Processed Documents
to have a look at.
Regards
Christine
