atw: OT: English is such a marvelous language and related rants

Oh dear ? I suppose this mean?s that I'll have to drop Chick Flick and it?s a girl thing from my vocabulary as well.

Just a few things that came to mind as I read the MG rant:

The underwire bra ranks right up there with the Iron Maiden. Rather than getting in a twist about the ruddy thing choking your Bosch, you might contemplate why your lady feels so insecure about her body that she would even consider wearing a device of torture and rather than add to her discomfort, perhaps do what you can to assure her that a woman with a bulging bosom located just under her chin only happens in the adult comic books and other such fantasies.

Agreed that Hygiene is not 100% sexually selective, but certainly personal and collective experience would indicate that it is darn close. Since every single one of my gay male friends is very cognizant of personal hygiene and runs a tighter household than even many of the women that I know, I suspect that the female gnomes do indeed play a part. Maybe appearances play a part as well, maybe grunge is perceived as macho. Certainly the media fantasy of bulging, sweaty male bodies that has permeated the culture would prefer that we believe it so. Just another instance where theory and practice are sharply divided. I will allow, however, that the subtle scent of a man is indeed very appealing.

But in the name of fairness and balance, I will share a little anecdote about a single female friend who smells very very badly.
She is severely A.D.D., and her house is a pit. Apparently household chaos and A.D.D. go together.
She is very kind hearted and has several geriatric critters, who use the house as their personal cat box.
As you might imagine, she is terribly embarrassed by it and I am one of a handful of people who she will allow in her house. But I have an EXTREMELY sensitive nose and my eyes start to water in the first 30 seconds, so I avoid extended visits.
The aroma is so full bodied that I can actually smell it on the front porch through a closed door before even entering the house and on my clothes and hair when I exit.
She actually bathes and washes her clothes (and towels) with great regularity, but because the odor of the house is so pungent, even her freshly cleaned hair, skin and clothes pick up the odor and linger with her.
She tries to cover it with perfume, which only makes her smell like a perfumed cat box.

In truth, while I have known a great many fellows who live like a pig and smell like one too, I can honestly say that she tops all of their efforts at muckiness in spades, which only goes to show that women are in fact far more accomplished than men in anything they do. Sorry, couldn't resist the dig. When will I find such a perfect opening again?

Guys didn't suddenly become either bad or stupid, this is just the first time in a long history that uppity women and the rest of the niggers have been free to tell them when they are being bad or stupid (yassa massa, I'm a shuffling). I'm old enough to remember when spousal abuse and rape was a husband?s "right" and the front and back of the bus was drawn in lines of color. I'm old enough to have been the first woman in the my tech school's history to get a two year degree in mechanical drafting, only to be told in an interview with several male managers present,
"Sorry honey, you know we can't possibly consider hiring you, one of the guys might slip up and swear and you'd cry and everybody would be uncomfortable. We just wanted to see what a women who can draft looks like."
I only wish that I had felt free enough at the time to give them a proper potty mouth retort. Historically, racism and sexism go hand in hand. So you will excuse me if I can't quite work up the tears because you think you might have lost a job to a woman. Welcome to my world, white boy.

Excuse me ladies but, as a guy, I take exception at your assertion that
this is "a guy thing".

In fact, just this afternoon, I paid 90 bucks to have my Bosch front
loader washer serviced (when "a girl thing" AKA a bra underwire) -
and no, not from an underwear of mine, thank you! - lodged between
its inner and outer drums, as if in some clandestine female plot to
prevent me from washing the fresh towels that I put out every day.

I dunno. Males in today's society are the target for every sexist
joke and advertisement.

How come women can get away with this stuff in an open forum and on
air but men are seen as being politically incorrect if we dare to respond.

I could call you "Female chauvinist sows" but I know you better than
that, right?

Hygiene is not sexually selective.

I'm offended!

Sheesh, recently I've even been overlooked for key tech writing roles,
despite being the recommended candidate, because the female middle
management in question refused to interview any men.

That's prejudice.

What? Have we got a "glass floor" now?

I'm all for equal opportunity, but men are getting a rough deal at the
moment in many areas (including being universally vilified in federal
government anti-domestic violence campaigns - apparently there is no
such creature as a violent woman - just ask Bodicea).

How did all guys suddenly become either bad or stupid?

What is going on!

Excellent bit of gum shoe, Janice! You went thru the back door of a site that was not all there yet to get that strip - good showing!

A number of ladies contacted me privately with similar stories and commenting that it indeed appears to be a guy thing. So ladies thanx to Janice - here's the strip that you requested.
Guys out there take note
the only thing worse than a stinky guy
is a 2 minute man (however if he's a stinky 2 minute man then two minutes is an eternity).
